B.D. SOMANI ECONOMIC FORUM

These words from The India Poised Campaign were said by Ananya Mittal to kick off the much awaited B.D. Somani Economic Forum.

Today India is booming. You name the development, and it is happening in India. With this being our underlying theme, Ananya Mittal, conceptualized and started the B.D. Somani Economic Forum In this project he is supported by Ankit Kasera and Priyanka Padode. Inspired by the World Economic Forum, his main aim is to invite renowned industrialists and professionals to speak to the school about India’s economic position in the world today, charting out its progress and explaining to us the roles of the various industries and sectors of the economy.

We commenced this event on Wednesday, the 7th of February 2007. Our inaugural guest was one of the top industrialists of our country, Mr. Sajjan Jindal. Not only did he tell us about the steel industry, but he also explained to us where India was headed and how we planned to get there. This was an eye-opener for most students and a truly enriching experience.

The second speaker enlightened us about the Union Budget and the stock market, Mr. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, on 21st of March 2007. He is one of India’s biggest stock broker and investors. Listening to him was an experience in itself and apart from making us all more knowledgeable we all left the room highly motivated with his attitude and approach.

We hope and plan to invite many other such industrialists and professionals so that our minds as students can be broadened and we can develop a global perspective. This is an initiative we have eagerly taken and we hope to keep the Forum a huge success.
