| B.D Somani International School uses a curriculum that engages children and their families in meaningful learning experiences informed by a range of globally proven successful education programmes. This “blending / informing process” enables teachers and developers of the school to fulfil their desire to provide every child with relevant, challenging and engaging experiences aimed at preparing them for a world we adults can only dream about. |
| We use inquiry as a vehicle for learning. We believe that children arrive from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of experiences. Based on their past experiences inquiry helps them develop thinking, research, self-management, social and communication skills. These lifelong skills, prepare the children to become independent learners. |
| We believe in a transdisciplinary integrated approach to learning. Each area of inquiry is explored through various lenses i.e. language of arts, language of mathematics, language of physical education, language of performing arts/expression etc.
The constructivist approach to learning believes that individuals construct their own knowledge and understanding. Each individual comes with prior knowledge. As students learn, they constantly engage in the process of revising their prior learning based on new experience. Similarly, in an inquiry based curriculum the students move through the stages of the recursive inquiry cycle. |
| In order to meet different learning needs and address diversity in the classrooms, we follow the differentiated instruction approach. Differentiating instruction means creating multiple paths so that students of different abilities, interest or learning needs experience equally appropriate ways to absorb, use, develop and present concepts as a part of the daily learning process. It allows students to take greater responsibility and ownership for their own learning, and provides opportunities for peer teaching and cooperative learning. In the process of differentiating instruction we are able to provide support and challenge to each student. |
