"What we want is to see the child in pursuit of knowledge, and not knowledge in pursuit of the child."
-George Bernard Shaw
We at B.D. Somani International School are lifelong learners who have a responsibility to contribute in our own individual ways to the emerging global society. We respect and appreciate each child as a unique individual with various learning styles and personalities. We believe that our responsibility as teachers is to support the child’s own development through active involvement in the learning process through various learning engagements. We encourage students to learn not by knowing but by doing. We as teachers, aim to create a classroom environment that supports young children’s social, emotional and academic growth.

We believe education should encourage children to develop to their fullest potential according to their own individual abilities .We believe in respecting each child as an individual ,as each one develops at a different rate physically ,cognitively and emotionally. Children learn best when they are provided a secure, stimulating environment where each child meets with experiences that will develop his or her fullest potential. We need to instill in every child a love of learning and quest for knowledge at an early age, the love of learning will grow and continue through life. Hence the role of the teacher in a classroom is that of the facilitator. To sum, a quote, "Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.

Education is the most important factor in the evolution of both the individual and society, it must be fun rather than forced or the learning will not take place. Knowledge must be continually renewed by ceaseless efforts if it is not to be lost. We as teachers must be the hands of service ever at work in order that education now becomes a stepping stone for lifelong learning. To these serving hands my hands at B.D. Somani shall always belong.

Education is an ongoing evolving process with progression and reconstruction. We as facilitators, believe in student centered learning and developing life-long learners. We strongly relate to the adage of serving as the “guide on the side” rather than “sage on the stage”, focusing on individual needs and involving student in the process of their learning. Meaningful learning takes place when students are motivated and interested by allowing them to bring their own stories, experiences and ideas into the classroom. This provides students with opportunities to work together, to learn from each other and respect each other’s differences. We strive to make a difference in every child’s life.

We believe that children are all unique, special and have unlimited potential and they are the path to our future. We believe by setting classroom organization, motivation and discipline that meets the needs of all students and ourselves, so that together we can concentrate on the main purpose of all educators and that is to impart knowledge that students need to be successful citizens and creators of our tomorrow. Our ideal classroom scenario is where everyone is learning and having fun in a clean organized and multi structured environment. It is not the position one acquires while working with children, its the affect you make in their lives equally and fairly.
